A Wishlist for Trans*Feminist Servers

An attempt at collectively annotating and re-writing the Feminist Server Manifesto (2014) into a wishlist.

role: co-author, contributor, workshop facilitator

In 2021, along with Jara Rocha and Cristina Cochior, I was invited to be part of the Fellowship for Situated Practice at BAK (basis voor actuele kunst) in Utrecht.

We called our group the “Cell for Digital Discomfort” (CfDD), and during our year-long artistic research, we collectively studied the intersections of socio-political paradigms such as trans*feminism and crip techno-science with contemporary critical theory around computational infrastructure. This involved engaging with many exciting materials, running workshops with the fellowship cohort and producing a final project.

One of our interests was to explore intersectional notions of hosting and hospitality. We re-visited the then 10-year -old Feminist Server Manifesto (2013) and opened it up for revisions and contributions from the entire cohort of 22 fellows. We did this through a collaborative live-annotation session that took place on our own self-hosted Nextcloud instance.

This collective annotation session resulted in a final wishlist, rather than a manifesto, for trans*feminist servers, that we printed and distrubeted in varying contexts.
